Spring Inspiration

Just when I thought Spring was almost here, Vancouver got blasted with snow for 3 days. My winter blahs set in again, (made worse by unemployment), I was in need of a pick-me-up. So I did some online window shopping. Here’s a few colours, textures and objects that caught my eye. Enjoy!

Holiday Origami

As promised, here’s some photos of how the origami ornaments turned out! I had the day off today, so I was very motivated to fold some paper! I went to my local dollar store and picked up some origami paper and I was on my way to awesomeness! Instructions for these can be found on Poppytalk.

Anthropologie Origami Workshop hosted by Poppytalk

Tonight was great fun! I went to a workshop hosted by Poppytalk at Anthropologie. We learned how to make origami Christmas ornaments. Hopefully in the next few weeks i’ll get around to finishing the project and post some photos of how it turned out. Thanks to Joanne  for sending me some photos to post. She’s the lovely lady in the last photo of this post, along with Jan from Poppytalk.

Come back soon to see photos of the final project!

Design Sponge Book Tour: Vancouver

Tonight I went to the Design*Sponge book tour at Anthropologie. It was great to meet the face behind the blog i’ve been reading for ages. Grace is so kind and so petite! Even though you could tell she was tired from touring all over the place, she still took the time to ask me questions and even pose for photos! Local Vancouver blogger Poppytalk created a beautiful driftwood backdrop, where the photos were taken, it was very West Coast. As for the book, it’s awesome, you should buy it if you haven’t already! Check out some photos below:

Summer 2011 Patio Inspiration

Well it’s offical, today is the first day of summer. Although i’ll be honest it doesn’t feel like summer in this city, the weather is chilly and it’s been pretty rainy.

Anyway i’ve been getting into the frame of mind for summer by thinking about my patio. It’s small, but I still love spending time on it in the summer. We Barbeque and eat dinner out there when it’s really warm out. It’s in need of a face lift, but not in a big way. So here’s a few items i’ve picked out that may be fun to add into the mix and brighten things up. (The Bodum BBQ is just a dream, but it’s it cute??)

Lemonade decanter: West Elm, Floor pillows: Urban Outfitters, Green BBQ: Bodum, Lanterns: Homesense, Chain lighting: West Elm Modern Lighting, Wood floor tiles: ikea

Some other random inspiration, my apologies, but I didn’t keep track of where these images came from, a lot of them are from Helen Enkelt , I take no credit for them, I just hope to inspire your outdoor spaces as well as my own. Happy Summer!

Filament Bulb Trend

What’s really really old, is new again. The filament light bulb has been making a serious come back in stores lately. Spending over $20 on a light bulb kind of freaks me out, but you have to admit, they sure are beautiful. You can find the bulbs and many other beautiful objects of desire, in a local Vancouver shop, called  Old Faithful.

Porcelain Creature Lamps

It seems everyone is making animal/creature white porcelain lamps right now. You can find them at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and pretty much anywhere else that’s considered trendy.

I’m kind of in love with the squirrel and possibly the gnome as a bedside lamp. Would you consider buying these? I’m not sure if i’d love it forever or if it’s just a fad. I’ve seen some of them selling in boutique shops for $300 and over. The average should be $70, but I can’t decide if it’s worth it. Either way, they sure are cute!
